Chief Executive



Shelagh Grant

Shelagh Grant has been Chief Executive of The Housing Forum since 2006 and has built a reputation for advancing practical and collaborative solutions in housing construction and regeneration through a high quality member centred programme. Shelagh is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), served on the CIH Council as a National Representative for 6 years, and is an examiner for the CIH Experienced Professional Route. 


Shelagh is also a member of the Editorial Panel for House Builder magazine, a judge for the Women in Housing Awards, and serves on the Construction Leadership Council’s Innovation Steering Group.



Shelagh's earlier career included housing development, regeneration and management work for Newcastle City Council and Gateshead Council, and Director of Housing and Community Services for Peterborough City Council. She holds a BA. (Hons) from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, and MBA from Northumbria University.

Michael Cleaver has over twenty years’ experience working for housing associations in a range of senior management positions.


Michael joined The Housing Forum from Optivo and is responsible for communications and developing new business opportunities, events and activities for members.


Michael holds a BA (hons) in Economics from Kingston University and an MBA from the Open University.

Corporate Services Executive



Mateja Pirc joined The Housing Forum in September 2016.  


She has over a decade of international experience in the environmental and sustainability field, including working on a knowledge transfer project on energy efficient building and renovation in the Alps.


Prior to joining The Housing Forum Mateja worked in the environment team of the Thames Tideway Tunnel construction project in London.


She holds a BA (Hons) in Geography from University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Member Events Executive 




Sandra Manning joined the Housing Forum team in February 2017. She is an experienced personal assistant and events manager and held roles predominately in Architecture for PRP. It was in her previous role where she developed her wealth of knowledge about the Housing Sector, and experience in event and conference planning.


Sandra’s role is to provide a high quality member events programme, ensuring our events are topical and relevant to our members, covering both a local and national platform. Sandra will be liaising with our members, arranging events and conferences and developing new opportunities for members to network, share best practice and collaborate.  She will also provide secretariat support for The Housing Forum Board meetings.


Sandra has a range of qualifications and experience relevant to her role, She is also passionate about gardening and horticulture and currently writes for a gardening magazine.
