The Structural Timber Association (STA) represents a wide cross section of the timber industry including suppliers, manufacturers, erectors and designers. It is recognised as the authoritative voice of the structural timber industry in the UK and is committed to the on-going promotion of timber as the most sustainable building material available, as well as raising awareness of the material’s increasing ability to meet the demands of the whole construction industry.
Formerly known as the UK Timber Frame Association, the STA provides definitive technical support to its members, to feed into their own research and development, as well as news and views from across the sector. The Association also provides literature to meet the specific needs of the wider building industry, from architects and designers, to housing associations and local authorities
The recent rebrand came about in recognition of the growing membership of the Association and the products which members offer. The new body represents not just timber frame, but all users of structural timber products, including hybrid systems such as CLT, SIPS and Glulam.
Despite the change in name and membership, the strict criteria about who can join the Association will remain in place, with members audited to ensure they are delivering industry best practice. This gives consumers the peace of mind that the products they are using and the services which they are provided with are of the highest quality, as well as adhering to the latest regulations.

The Housing Forum has long held the reputation as a key influencer in the housing debate and is known for its high quality, high impact events. Membership of the Housing Forum means the STA can gain access to other influential organisations, thereby raising the profile of the Association, its members and structural timber in general.
