The Housing Forum Demonstration project method monitors and profiles the progress of innovative and high quality solutions in housing construction in line with one or more of our 3 themes.

1. Building Homes for the Future

 

Strategic Priorities

    • to build an increased housing supply over longer time frames with improvements in quality and range to meet demographic pressures
    • to promote continuity in future supply to move away from stop-start development cycles and support delivery through developer-led models, JVs with local councils and institutional investors

Demonstration Projects showcase innovation through implementation in housing schemes.  For new build, Demonstration Projects will include schemes that increase quality housing supply through:

    • Joint venture partnerships
    • Working with local authorities and public bodies
    • Purpose build private rented homes
    • Low cost housing for sale and rent
    • Housing for older people

 

 

 


 

 

2. Investing in our Housing Assets

 

Strategic Priorities

    • to advocate investment in housing assets at a strategic level with a policy for asset management and home energy
    • to showcase practical and costed approaches for landlords and contractors to deliver innovation and value in asset management and home energy

Demonstration Projects showcase innovation through implementation in housing schemes.  For Investing in our housing assets, Demonstration Projects will include schemes that add value to the existing stock through:

    • Retrofitting existing homes to improve energy efficiency
    • Retrofitting existing homes and neighbourhood above Decent Homes standards
    • Resident involvement and engagement
    • Estate densification and regeneration
    • Property condition and asset management methods

 


3. Smarter Supply: Smarter Resources- 1 demonstration project available

 

Strategic Priorities

    • to call for smarter investment in skills at all levels, principally in construction and training but also in planning, project and financial management
    • to raise the issue of smarter development of digital tools to promote BIM, asset management, home performance and energy labelling

Demonstration Projects showcase innovation through implementation in housing schemes.  For Smarter Supply: Smarter Resources, Demonstration Projects will include schemes that show how supply chain security and technology can produce smarter outcomes in both new and existing housing through:

    • Investment in skills and workforce development

    • Home Performance Labelling

    • Building Information Modelling

    • Customer Skills

    • Off site manufacture and supply chain and procurement efficiences
