A Members Morning to Remember

Over 60 Housing Forum members new and old attended our annual end of year event. Our new report Building Homes Better – The quality challenge, was introduced by Rory Bergin who chaired the Working Group.

The report, sponsored by Hunters, BLP Insurance and AMCM Ltd makes recommendations to increase the consistency of new homes. As Rory’s presentation showed, we can build great homes, we need to do it all the time. We then had an interesting panel discussion chaired by Mike De’ath of HTA and with contributions from Bob Heapy, CEO of Town and Country HA, of Wates Construction and Caroline Compton-James of Osborne.

All had a different but important take as to how the sector was acting to make the change in culture needed to ensure what gets built is to the best possible standard. A lively debate ensued with excellent contributions from the audience. This was followed by our Chair, Andy von Bradsky’s analysis of the issues faced by the sector. A great session which benefited enormously from the insight he has gained working at the heart of government policy making.

Then there was just time for Michael Cleaver and Shelagh Grant of The Housing Forum to reveal our new logo and the programme for 2018.

Thank you to all who attended and particularly those who wore a Christmas Jumper and contributed to the collection for Save the Children.
