More Homes for London – response to the London Housing Commission

More Homes for London- a special members Housing Forum event with Lord Bob Kerslake, Chair of the London Housing Commission and featuring the four member and authors of “Superdensity The Sequel" took place on Friday 9th October.

Lord Bob Kerslake, chair of the London Housing Commission set out the objectives – to examine how to double housing output in London and maintain this over a period of time as if this is not addressed, there will be a serious economic impact on London’s future as a global city.

The Housing Forum’s response was linked to the fresh perspectives from architectural practices  HTA, Levitt Bernstein, Pollard Thomas Edwards and PRP on how to create successful homes and places at high densities up to 350 homes per hectare at 5-8 storeys height. Prices in London are driven up by a fundamental imbalance in supply and a whole series of initiatives is needed to address this.
