Right to Buy: The Housing Forum calls for a ‘Buyers Charter’ and an end to RTB on newbuild homes
The Housing Forum has today published a new report into ways to reform the Right to Buy system has called for a reduction in the discounts available for council tenants buying their own home, after finding that homes in weaker markets have been sold for as little as £15,000. 
The report also calls for an end of the Right to Buy on newbuild homes, and the introduction of a ‘Buyers’ Charter’ to prevent apparent unfairness in and abuse of the system.

The Housing Forum responds to technical guidance released on second staircases
The Housing Forum welcomes the long-awaited technical guidance on second staircases in tall buildings. The consultation on this guidance was released in December 2022, and the delay in publishing the response and technical guidance has led to uncertainty across the housing sector. We have been aware of many sites that have stalled because of the lack of information around what exactly is required (such as the maximum distance permitted between flat entrances and the staircases) . We raised these concerns previously on behalf of our members across the housing sector.
