First Homes Consultation

Have your say on the Government's First Homes Consultation

We remain committed to increasing housing supply and making sure we represent the views of the entire housing supply chain to policy makers.

On Friday 20 March, representatives from The Housing Forum's cross-sector membership met online to discuss the design and delivery of 'First Homes' consultation to formulate a response to Government by the deadline on Friday 1 May.

Led by Stephen Teagle, Chair of The Housing Forum and Chief Executive of Vistry Partnerships, the online debated covered the following key themes:

  • Affordability
  • Delivery Mechanisms
  • Exception Sites
  • Community Infrastructure Levy

There was a call for a clear definition of what ‘First Homes’ really meant. The impact of the initiative on affordable and rented homes also requires clarification. There were serious questions on whether accelerated housing delivery was going to be achieved.

We want to add further comments to the debate and encourage views from members of The Housing Forum on this important consultation.
